Healing is beautiful. It is hard, painful and glorious. Like the moment you come to and truly appreciate the fact that you are alive. You may not be able to move and breathing feels like work, but you are in fact breathing.
To Heal is a Surrender. It is acknowledging the wound and the enormity of what is needed from the Body. It’s like the smell of lightning; it cannot be recreated or manufactured.
It is sweet like the first sip of warmth when you are cold to the bone. It’s a Surrender to not knowing anything, not one thing. The more expansive the disruption, the wider the Unknown. One can support healing but does not actually do the Healing. Healing . . . just happens. And only when we allow it.
Yielding to healing requires humility and patience. What we craved or needed prior means nothing. The world stops with fatigue. Pain is your timepiece. The right position, the perfect light and temperature never felt as peaceful as it does when you let healing guide you.
I’ve come to believe Healing is not a state but a forever dynamic process humming along in the background of our lives. Cells die and new ones are reborn. We scrape our leg and a scab forms. Our heart is broken and somehow we mend it. Life is degrees of Healing. When the need for Healing becomes central, you listen. You learn . . .
- The days are as long as they need to be – whether they feel never-ending or too short.
- Breathing, your body is more perfect than not.
- Walking in nature is an elixir; sunrises and sunsets a tonic.
- There is strength in being still.
- No one’s opinion matters more than Healing’s words of wisdom.
- Rest rules all.
- Everything shall pass and with it will come both grief and relief; joy and sorrow.
I prefer Health and Wholeness to the need for intense Healing, but when it must come, I relish in its gloriousness. I thought about trying to capture and bottle what it is I get from the process of Healing, but instead I choose to see Healing as something always happening to varying degrees. I commit myself to listening more carefully for the moments I need Healing.
