I am a clinical social worker who became a builder.

I grew up in Omaha, went east for school, and came back. I have worked in behavioral health since 1995 and practiced psychotherapy since 1998, in child guidance centers, community mental health, a police department's child development program, and eventually my own practice. I specialize in trauma, women's health, and somatic approaches.

Somewhere in there I stopped being only a clinician. In 2011 I opened Omaha Integrative Care, the first truly integrative healthcare practice in Nebraska. In 2023 I co-founded Dignity in Healing Collective to work on the problem the clinical room could not solve, which is that we are not producing and keeping enough good providers.

So I hold several roles at once, on purpose. I am still a clinician who cares about the person in front of me. I am responsible for other people's livelihoods. I train and consult. And I am increasingly a systems person, because you cannot fix an upstream problem from inside the exam room.

The through-line is dignity. In healing, in work, and in how organizations treat the people inside them. I run what I run on self-management and distributed authority because I do not believe humane care can come out of a dehumanizing structure. The way I build is part of what I am trying to build.

I am also a mother and a wife, a reader, a gardener, and someone who has spent the last several years on the patient side of medicine learning things I would rather have learned another way. That experience is in almost everything I write now.
